Second Key: What? I have to WORK?!
[Action 1: L'Déplaisant]
[Marvelous tugs at his work clothes, a disdainful look on his face. These clothes feel stiff, as if they were brand new. Except for the fact...]
And I've been apparently working at this...place...for how long again?
[No one answers him as he wanders among the tables to find something to do. He's not too interested in actually doing his so-called job]
[Action 2: Downtown Streets]
[Exploring the town. His mission: find something to wear that's halfway in his tastes. Though, he's highly tempted to just steal something rather than actually buying it (though he hasn't decided yet)]
Is it just me or does everything here look...dreary?
[This could take a while]

Re: [ downtown streets ]
Good. Thought this place was already testing my sanity.
[ downtown streets ]
Oh, it'll tend to do that. Are you familiar with how Mayfield works?

Re: [ downtown streets ]
I only really know about the town seemingly controlling some of the people. While kidnapping others. My friend Luka is also here. And....another person I know.
[ downtown streets ]
Right, so you know the gist of Mayfield. However, who you should avoid is the Mayor and Officer Grady. It's said by the older members of this town, again, like you and me, that Officer Grady is particularly malevolent toward us and he can resort to violence pretty quickly. Cooperation with them is best, but it won't earn you anything but a reprieve. Status, favors, privileges? Good luck. The next group you should avoid is the Smith family. I haven't personally seen anything they've done, but Jack and Lucy Smith are the ones you should run away from and not look back.
Why, you may ask? Lucy Smith will do whatever she can to cause you physical and mental pain, same as Billy Smith. Irregardless, please do heed my warning about them since you'd be winning the Darwin Award rather quickly. So while Mayfield may look like a perfect town where everyone is smiling and cooperating to make the community a good place, it's all a trap designed to make you whittle down your guard.
As for what's happened thus far, since the beginning when people recorded down events, there has been a Red Asian Flu sometime during one of the many Septembers. It caused the appearance of hazmats, who of which distributed vaccinations and some of them caused strange effects instead, such as hallucinations. Others did work, but had severe side effects like high fevers and vomiting. It's safe to say that hazmats aren't to be approached under any circumstances.
In early November, the Milkman - another person you should avoid - was elected the mayor. Suffice to say, he did a terrible job at it. First the Town Hall burned down, followed by the only foul weather encountered before or since. Days later, each street began to experience flooding, acid rain, burst plumbing, and other such things. Once the citizens were permitted to vote again, the old mayor was re-elected and thus far has not left office.
[ She pauses here to catch her breath. Then, when she reclaims it, she continues on explaining. ]
Now, for the next year in January - there was a killing spree by Officer Grady. Many citizens were found dead in their beds and others were listed as suspects in the killings. It's believed that this went on for a week before the citizens awakened, good as new, and everything was returned to normal. This also marks the first time Westport, another town like Mayfield was broadcasted on television with having all of its citizens found dead in their homes. Now, we skip to May where Westport was opened briefly and the town was confirmed as being an empty, ransacked, bombed-out war zone. This has been aptly named the "Westport Incident". The road eventually closed and the hazmats had their second appearance. They hunted down and killed anyone trapped there, either directly or with poison gas. No one was spared; it was only after everyone was killed that they were returned to Mayfield. Since then, the road to Westport has not been open.
Early July marks when Mayfield experienced a complete transformation into an entirely foreign dystopian city, referred to as Maipole; most of the citizens were assigned factory work while the rest were given impossible tasks to complete and were pretty much shot or severely punished when they couldn't finish. A group of us managed to blow up the factory that had become the town center, and shortly after, the city returned to the state you see it now. Late October was the third appearance of the hazmats. A citizen of Maipole, apparently someone very dangerous in the eyes of Grady and the mayor, was observed walking the streets in an injured stupor, though he was capable of a kind of teleportation. He hid in many prisoner's houses, mumbling and bleeding, and when no one consented to give him up, the hazmats were called in for more aggressive measures. Many citizens were gassed and murdered with axes in their search for the man, who was eventually captured, given to Grady, and hanged in front of town hall.
[ She pauses here to let him take in the information, sticking her hands in her coat pockets. ]
Re: [ downtown streets ]
Sounds like the same kind of ruthless scumbags that Zangyack would love to employ.
So, what do they look like? If I need to avoid or 'co-operate' with them, I should at least know that.
[ downtown streets ]
Zangyack?
You usually can find pictures of them around, especially the Mayor and Officer Grady. I haven't had a chance to interact with them personally, however, but I don't think that would be the smartest of choices.
Would you like for me to continue, sir?
Re: [ downtown streets ]
Zangyack is gigantic Space Dictatorship from back home. My friends and I like to mess up their plans.
If you wouldn't mind.
[ downtown streets ]
And, so I see. I'm glad you do that, sir.
[ She nods and decides to continue. ]
The December of Year Two and the following January are closely linked in what happened. In December, the citizens were compelled to transcribe their wishes onto letters and send them off to "Santa Claus;" almost everyone instead received something grisly or otherwise dangerous in return. In January, it was revealed that the supposed Santa was actually the Postman, who attempted to get the citizens to collectively vote "yes" or "no" to being returned to their respective worlds. When the votes didn't come in unanimous, we were told that they would not be counted at all, though quite a few of us, doubted that they ever would have been in the first place. March brought us nothing except idiotic jokes. Though, from what I assume is the same month, the highway that circles Mayfield was opened. It's not worth explaining since it was another joke at our expense. We managed, though, to go to Deadman's Gulch and it's no longer accessible right now. It was abandoned like Westport, but there weren't any hazmats and we were free to come and go until it closed off.
Maipole and Westport are the only examples we have seen about what the outside world has become, and it's not a pretty picture. More clues are periodically given, but other than that a war has probably taken place. Unfortunately, it's hard to piece them together. The clues we find are generally broadcasted over the phones, so as long as you pay attention, you shouldn't be left in the dark.
Oh, and don't drink the milk.
Re: [ downtown streets ]
Good to know. Information seems to be quite powerful here.
Now that I'm caught up, I suppose an introduction is in order. I'm Captain Marvelous, of the Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. And you?
[ downtown streets ]
It's the greatest weapon you can have.
I'm Diana Ethelbert, Mr. Marvelous. [ Because she thinks that Captain is your first name. ] It's a pleasure.
Re: [ downtown streets ]
And while I would prefer my Mobirates, information will do for now weapon-wise.
[ downtown streets ]
As far as weapons are concerned, there's a gun shop around here. Since you're an adult male, you'll be able to purchase them without any difficulties. However, I do have a few supplies of my own that I could give you. Also, may I ask what a Mobirate is?
Re: [ downtown streets ]
Hmm...
[Is thinking there might at least be an old Earth flintlock in there, so is interested]
It's sort of like a phone, but it also allows me to transform.
[ downtown streets ]
...and did you say transform?
Action 2
Well, some of it's dull. And some of it's even bland!
Re: Action 2
[Ow...eyes starting to hurt from obnoxious orange!]
They need some nice bold red in there. Then I might purchase something.
Re: Action 2
Re: Action 2
[Totally obvious that this outfit he's wearing is totally NOT from the town]

Re: Action 2
Odd color choices.
